Why did you choose to study this course and not A-levels for example?
I knew that I would be more motivated to work hard and thrive within this type of education than a college or 6th form, as I was never good at exams or revision. Coursework is much better suited to me.

What made you choose to study at Rockley?
I wanted to be based on the water and participate in watersports as it has been something that I have loved doing since I was young. It also seemed like a good opportunity for me to improve my skills in watersports and gain qualifications from a passion that I have.

What do you love most about your course?
When studying at Rockley we have the freedom to complete assignments within a set date. This is great for me as I am able to work at my own pace without so much stress. I love the course as it looks into many different careers within the sporting industry, not just instructing. While I want to instruct watersports, this is not my end goal. My favourite part of the course and being at Rockley are the practical days when the sun is shining and everyone is ready for a day on the water! Everyone is in such a good mood which makes the day so much fun!

Some words of wisdom
Take every opportunity given to you - you will achieve your qualifications much quicker and easier if you do the optional training days. They will also improve your confidence on the water and in yourself. Enjoy the days on the water even when the weather may be bad because before you know it, you'll be off the water and ready to move on to the next chapter in your life.

What are your dreams and aspirations and your future career plans?
In the near future I hope to work with Rockley over the summer at Buddens Activity Centre. I am then going to university to study psychology, after which I hope to travel using the qualifications I have gained from this course. I just really want to see the world and experience different cultures.

Would you recommend the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Outdoors) course to other students and why?
I would 100% recommend this course to anyone who has a passion for the water. Yes, being on the water during the cold and rainy months is very difficult and challenging, but it's completely worth it. You must also be motivated enough to complete the coursework - it is not the same as exams and revision; if you miss one assignment or get a low grade then this will affect your overall grade. You cannot afford to be lazy with assignments!

Who, during your time so far has inspired you the most?
I think everyone at the centre is inspiring - everyone has a real passion for the water and instructing as well as wanting to help people learn. They are incredibly good at encouraging and motivating you when you are finding things difficult.
