For our very enthusiastic six and seven year olds who are keen to get on the water and give it a go, we offer 2-day sailing courses at our Poole Park Location. Based on a large lake, it offers a safe environment for youngsters to learn. While still following the RYA scheme, youngsters will also grow in confidence and hopefully develop a love for the sport which will see them sailing for years to come. This course is offered at our Poole Park centre only.
RYA Stage 1 Start Sailing (2 days) - For 6 or 8 year olds. During the course you will learn launching and recovery, steering, parts of the boat and basic sailing.
After the course you will be able to steer and understand basic principles.
RYA Stage 2 Basic Skills (2 days) - For 7 & 8 year olds. During the course you will learn basic sailing skills, ropework and collision avoidance
After the course you will be able to tack and control boat speed, and understand basic principles.
2 days.
For complete beginners aged 6-8 years who want to achieve their RYA Stages 1 and 2 you can book onto both of the 2-day modules and complete both stages over 4 days.
RYA Stage 1 (2 days - Mon-Tue); during May Half term and every week during the summer holidays.
RYA Stage 2 (2 days - Wed-Thu); during May Half term and every week during the summer holidays.
At Poole Park, we provide the boats, buoyancy aids and waterproofs, all you need to bring is a change of clothes, a towel and some shoes you don't mind getting wet, and of course yourselves. Of course bring any of your own sailing gear. Further information will be sent to you on booking.
