Why Choose a Rockley France Holiday

Are you looking for a family holiday that is relaxing but also active? That is laid back but also offers great food and wine? Or how about a holiday that offers sun, sea and smiles?  Perhaps what you are looking for is a family holiday with Rockley at our family French campsite and activity centre.  But I would say that wouldn’t I?!

Idyllic south west France

We have been quietly providing family activity holidays in the south west of France for nearly 30 years and over that time we have listened and tweaked our holidays to reflect changing tastes and changing requirements but our offer is still true to its founding idea of providing a family holiday that is great value, as active as each family member wants and as relaxing as each family member wants. Our holidays are based on a small, lakeside campsite near the pretty French town of Azur just a few miles north of Biarritz on the spectacular Cote Sauvage of Aquitaine.  The area is wooded with majestic maritime pines and the rolling sand dunes offer easy off-road bike trails which even the youngest member of your family can tackle.

Sleeping under the stars

A large part of the relaxing nature of our holidays is down to the fact that you are staying under canvas. There is nothing quite like sleeping outdoors, children especially love the thrill of this experience and the freedom it offers them to run around in the fresh air without the constraints of rooms or corridors or “keep off the grass”. If they want to ride their bike around to fetch the morning croissants or to go and brush their teeth that is absolutely fine!  Obviously, mums and dads might be wary of camping, especially if this isn’t something they are used to, but camping is not like it used to be.  The tents are large frame tents and are already set up for you in our own area of the campsite.  The beds are sprung with mattresses and bedding is provided so you don’t have to bring your own.  The tents have electric hook up so you also have a fridge (essential for keeping that glass of sundowner cool!), lighting and charging points for all your cameras, phones and tablets.

You time and family time

One of the joys of a Rockley Family holiday is that all meals are provided. Shopping, (the boring type at least) cooking and washing up will not be on the list of ‘things to do’ – it’s all about spending time on the water and with family and friends.

Boats, bikes and boards

We started Rockley as a sailing school and watersports are still at the heart of our activities so if you want to learn or simply want to enjoy being on the water then we can provide this.  All members of your family should be able to find something to enjoy from our range of sailing dinghies, catamarans, windsurfers, kayaks, paddle boards and bikes or maybe hitting the sunlounger with a book is what makes your holiday.

With the spectacular Atlantic coast so close, a day trip to the beach is a must and the waves are best enjoyed with a body board or maybe take the opportunity ride like a pro with one of the many local surf schools.

A Rockley family holiday harks back to a simpler time with enough organised activities to keep energetic youngsters, teens and parents challenged but not forgetting enough time to switch off, explore, relax and breathe in the beautiful outdoors.
