We welcome Andy to the Rockley Team

We are very excited to welcome Andy Lacey to the Rockley Team, who will be managing our new centre based in the Purbecks. Andy has already spent the last four years successfully managing Buddens Activity Centre so he knows exactly what he's doing, and cannot wait to see the centre full with excited young people again.

The story so far....

"I have been involved in the outdoors industry for the last 15 years, working for a variety of organisations, local authorities, charities and commercial operations. Outdoor Education trips and the Scouts gave me a great opportunity when I was younger to experience new activities and travel the world. I’m extremely passionate about giving similar experiences to other young people and helping them to hopefully find new life-long skills or passions."

Achievements/qualifications

"I have my RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor, RYA Powerboat Instructor, BC Paddlesports Instructor, MLTE Single Pitch Award, ERCA Instructor and Generic Rescuer."

When not at Buddens....

"I'm a keen sportsman, and while I love most sports, my favourite is Rugby - playing, coaching and watching at every opportunity!

Having moved to Dorset four years ago, I am now taking full advantage of the rural setting, with time spent walking my dog and shooting, when I get the chance."

The prospect of working with Rockley

“Working with Rockley is an exciting new chapter for me. Joining a dynamic team and having the opportunity to get young people outdoors once again is fantastic especially after such a strange year.”

The benefits of a school residential trip for teachers and group leaders >

Teachers are amazing! However, with increasing pressures on workload and such a busy job, why take the extra time to organise a school trip? Well, because believe it or not there are many benefits for you, as well as the students.

Preparing young people for their first residential trip (for the youngsters) >

Every young person is unique - some come across as confident, energetic leaders, whilst others shy away from the limelight to work away in the background. Here at Rockley, we celebrate the achievements of all our students and nurture and mould their skill set. However, no matter how outgoing or confident a young person may be - going on a school trip away from home for the first time, can be scary and daunting which is why we want their first trip away to be a fantastic one!

We're making waves!
