Jaz chose the Leap for Success course as part of her year out from studying and graduated with her RYA Dinghy and Windsurf Instructor qualifications. Following the course, Jaz worked several seasons at Rockley, in between studying neuroscience at Exeter University. Now in her final year, following her degree, she plans to “take a year out to do a lot of sailing, racing, and working, saying yes to opportunities that I’ve had to put aside because of uni!”

It’s all go!

It’s safe to say that despite the pressures of her course, Jaz has never been too far from the water and has fully embraced the outdoors. Most of her summer was spent waszp sailing out of WPNSA (she practically spent the summer there!) and in September 2021 she was asked to join the only all-female crew in the British Keelboat League finals at Poole YC. In November she was selected to sail in the Hamble Winter Series with @gentoosailingteam at Port Solent but to top all of that, Jaz has recently just been accepted on to the British Keelboat Academy 2022 – ‘big things are happening which is awesome!”

What would Jaz say to anyone thing of doing a 12-week outdoor adventure course – “I would definitely recommend it to anyone, I made some amazing friends and gained so many life skills through being part of the course, let alone completing the qualifications I was there to get. If you’re thinking of doing it, I’d say go for it. You’re guaranteed a great summer with some of the best people and you learn some invaluable lessons. Definitely worth the time and effort! Rockley is also a really friendly company with family values and is a great place to work in the summer!"
