Thank you Browny

As we wave goodbye to our BTEC Course Coordinator Ian 'Browny' Brown we look back on his influtential impact on our successful BTEC Level 3 Sport.

Ian has been part of the Rockley team since 2010 and brought a wealth of outdoor educaiton experience with him. But before he came to us Ian was the Head of PE at Bournemouth’s largest school for many years.

He has been the driving force behind our very successful BTEC Level 3 Sport (Outdoor Adventure) course and is a great motivational teacher and is also a force to be reckoned with!

Along with his teaching experience Browny is a qualified RYA Powerboat Instructor and RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructor. A very keen windsurfer but he will only go on the water when “it is blowing old boots” and an enthusiastic snowboarder who has passonately driven the BTEC ski trip each year.

He has been known to break a few things in his time, including a few hips and even started a BTEC term on crutches. But Ian's contribution to creating the Rockley BTEC has resulted in the success it is today.

We catch up with second year student Megan, about life at Rockley College >

We catch up with second year student Megan, about life on Rockley's Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Outdoors) course. Currently working in her spare time locally for a watersports company and buzzing off the back of recently passing both her RYA Windsurf and Dinghy Instructor courses, we find out what made her choose Rockley College and how things are going so far......

Let’s get centre specific! >

When it comes to residential activity trips for young people, there is generally a ‘top 5’ when it comes to what group leaders are looking for. Amongst safety, types of activities and company reputation is always centre and location. This is why, as a company, when choosing an activity centre, the location is at the forefront of our decision-making. Our centres have been specifically selected for their capacity to offer a range of fantastic activities and enhance both the pupil and group leader adventure experience.

We're making waves!
