Rockley Vacancies: BTEC Level 3 Sport Teacher

Rockley Academy is seeking to appoint a successful teacher, who has the ability to deliver outstanding lessons and training to inspire students to reach their potential, to their BTEC team from September 2017, 

Rockley Academy - Teacher of BTEC Level 3 Sport (Outdoor Adventure)

Location: Poole, Dorset
Reports to: BTEC Coordinator
Start date: 1st September 2017
Salary: £22,000 to £28,000 pa – DOE
Closing Date: 30th March 2017 (Midnight)
 

Working Pattern: 42 weeks per year (term time + 3 weeks) Interviews to be held: 3rd – 7th April 2017 Monday to Friday 09.00 to 17:00  Parents Evenings, Open Days on an adhoc basis.


Rockley Academy is part of the Rockley group, established in 1976. Our unique and dedicated BTEC Level 3 qualification in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) currently has 100 students registered across the the years and has been designed to enable students to build a career in the outdoor and leisure industry specialising in watersports.
We not only give our students the best of all worlds, we give them the world: Experience of work abroad, professional Instructor Qualifications that will allow them to work in 57 countries throughout the world. After completing the two-year BTEC L3 their options will be: 1. Direct to University 2. Foundation Degree 3. Employment in the Outdoor Adventure Industry with relevant NGB qualifications


Role and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Teach a variety of modules within the BTEC Level 3 course as allocated by the course coordinator
  • Vary teaching approaches in accordance with a variety of student needs
  • Provide effective feedback to students – to provide on going learning and development
  • Provide ideas and contribute to the design, delivery, future planning and development of the course curriculum
  • Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips eg. Overnight residential trips
  • Participate as a team member in the development of teaching methods and strategies towards an ethos of continuous improvement

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification
  • A teaching qualification; Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector (CTLLS minimum, preferably DTLLS or PGCE). Ideally have experience in delivering the BTEC Level 3 Sport (Outdoor Adventure) course including Anatomy, Physiology and Exercise Physiology. Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students.
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least 4 years

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • D1 minibus driving licence
  • Watersports / Outdoor Experience or Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Maths & English

Educational Experience

* Educated to degree level or equivalent in Sport/Physical Education

* Qualified Teacher Status

* Full Driving Licence

* Experience / NGB's in a variety of outdoor activities including; sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, mountain biking, walking, orienteering, skiing

Teaching Experience
  • Confidence in teaching pupils of all abilities
  • Able to guide and develop students effectively using a variety of learning styles and techniques
  • Work closely with colleagues in the preparation, assessment and monitoring of work
  • Experience of teaching BTEC Level 3 Sport
  • Experience in working with the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme
  • Experience teaching maths & English
  • Knowledge of the current Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Sport (OutdoorAdventure) syllabus
  • Knowledge of future proposals to the BTEC Level 3 scheme
