oVER £9000 RAISED FROM SPLASH IN THE PARK

Rockley and many other local teams gather at Poole Park Lake on a rainy Sunday morning for a marathon sporting event on the water in aid of Julia's House.

Rockley teamed up with Julia's House to put on Splash in the Park in which teams  from local companies took part in a series of water events on Poole Park Lake. A casual chat between Steve Mills - fundraising coordinator at Julia's House and AJ - Rockley's Poole Park Manager one afternoon soon developed into 'Splash in the Park'!

The event involved teams of between 4 to 6 individulas and a range of challenges including stand up paddleboarding races, water walker races, and an inflatable challenge. This then all culminated in the final event which involved all the activities and a somewhat gruelling pedalo race!

During the day, there was also a kayak endurance challenge in which individuals or pairs from each company were to embark on a mile long course throughout the day. Teams who managed to complete more than 11 miles would get double points!

Despite the consistently drizzling rain throughout the day and somewhat cooler temperatures, all the teams donned their wetauits and rash vests (and pink tutus for the Vitality team!) and whole heartedly embraced the event and challenges set before them.

Managing Director of Rockley, Pip Woods commented; "I'm not sure any of us realised how exhasuting yet at the same time how fantastic the day would be. The kayak endurance really took it out of us and the inflatable challenge was a personal favourite! It was a great day and a huge success and we hope to make the event even bigger and better next year! Most importantly the event raised some well-needed money for this amazing charity"

Steve Mills aso said; "What a great event cannot thank the whole Rockley team enough for their dedication and support for Julia's House children's hospice!"

Santander (team name Wet 'n' Wild) were overall winners of the day after the photo finish pedalo race, closely followed by Holton Homes with Rockley Watersports coming in third. Well done to everyone who took part and to Steve and AJ for their efforts in organising such a great event. So far over £9000 has been raised and that total has not yet been finalised. A truly fantastic day and a fantastic amount of money raised for such an important charity!
