Rockley Education Outdoor Adventure - 2020 Applications now Open!

We are delighted to be able to let you know that Sixth Form applications are now open for our Level 2 / Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) starting in September 2020.

We are delighted to announce that Rockley Education applications for 2020 are now open for our Outdoor Adventure courses in Poole.  The course in a nutshell is a two year full time programme that is ultimately described as our staff training programme for aspiring Outdoor Instructors. All our students get the opportunity to study for a qualification whilst also completing professional development and the opportunity to train in watersports and gain Instructor qualifications. The course is very applied and includes lots of practical based learning, perfect for any sporty students that are looking for something different for their sixth form experience. Students also have the opportunity to complete extensive work experience which can be here in the UK or at one of French resorts working alongside our qualified instructors and helping to lead school groups on multi activity trips. 

Course breakdown 

> Rockley Education, offers the BTEC Level 3 sport (Outdoor Adventure) with a special emphasis on a practical approach to studying to achieve success. 
> The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) is equivalent to 3 ‘A’ Levels
> The course gives students a direct route to university or gives them the skills required to build a career in the outdoor and leisure industry 
> The course combines theory units, practical activities and employer valued, Professional National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications. This is all paid for and included as part of the course.
Practical elements of the course where students will be taught to wakeboard, windsurf, sail, SUP, mountain bike, climb, hike,  expedition experience etc 
> Trips abroad during the course - Multiactivity Trip to France in week 1 of the course, annual Ski Trip, summer work experience placement
> Learning takes place at Rockley Watersports Centres in Poole
> Work experience is embedded in to the course and students complete a period of work experience at one of our French resorts or UK centres (subject to interview and application process) in the summer term

What can students do afterwards?

> A guaranteed job interview with Rockley Watersports at the end of the course and opportunity to work for the company
> Work in the UK or abroad as a professional outdoor instructor
> Use the BTEC qualifications as a gateway to University


 

 

 

 

 

Entry requirements and what are we looking for?

> Students with 4 GCSE’s including English, or Maths, or both! Anyone not meeting these will be offered a place on our Level 2 programme.  
> Students that do not achieve a 4 at English or Maths, will have the opportunity to retake this alongside the course
> A Can Do attitude
> Practically minded students that want to embrace sports and the outdoors
> Students do not need any background in the sports, this is all taught.
