Working Pattern

Five days Monday – Friday (During School term time) Will include weekend work outside of term time. 28 days holiday per annum (to be taken during School Holidays) Parents Evenings, Open Days on an Ad Hoc basis.

Job Role

The role of BTEC Level 3 Sport Practical Instructor will involve, but not limited to the following tasks:-

  • Support BTEC Teaching staff in the delivery of outdoor practical activities
  • Coordinate and deliver practical activities for the BTEC Sport Outdoor Adventure course
  • Work closely with course tutors to meet overall student targets and achievement
  • Monitor student progress by setting and reviewing students practical goals and qualifications
  • Perform 1-1 performance reviews with all students throughout the year
  • Assist in the creation of the practical activity plan that incorporates BTEC criteria and professional qualifications
  • Maintain standards of tuition of practical elements and when delivering activities, be responsible for group safety and welfare at all times
  • Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips and overnight residentials
  • Taking specific responsibility for the extra-curricular clubs programme and competitive sailing opportuntities for students
  • Act as a Rockley representative at parents' evenings, taster days, open days and careers or education conventions and fairs
  • Comply with health and safety/operating policies and procedures
  • Oversee Logistics, transport and equipment for all practical activities – on and off site
  • Assist with student transport and drive the mini bus as part of a rota of drivers
  • Maintain the equipment stores inventory, including monitoring equipment audits, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and equipment manufacturer guidelines etc.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and equipment repairs, or dispatch faulty equipment to manufacturers for repair (as appropriate)
  • Centre duties as and when required by Rockley Point Centre Manager

Essential Qualifications and Experience

A full UK driving licence held for at least four years. Watersports / Outdoor Experience and Qualifications in Windsurfing, Sailing, SUP, Kayaking, Surfing, Kite Surfing, Mountain Bike, Walking, Climbing, Orienteering, Skiing etc

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified at degree level in Sport / Physical Education / Outdoor Adventure or a related subject
  • In possession of, or an interest in training towards, an appropriate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent)
  • RYA Senior Instructor / RYA Coach Assessor / RYA Powerboat Instructor / RYA First Aid Trainer
  • MIDAS mini bus driving licence

* Full Driving Licence
* First Aid Qualification
* Qualified at degree level in Sport / Physical Education / Outdoor Adventure or related subject
* Possession of a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
* Midas Licence
