Fun for St. Edward’s School at Poole Park

This week over 150 pupils from local Oakdale School, St.Edward's got on the water in Poole Park. The lake was a hive of activity with the children enjoying being away from the classroom!

St Edwards School pupils at Rockley Poole ParkRockley hosted 164 St.Edward's School pupils this week at the Poole Park Centre for their annual end of term activity trip.

Over three days the local students from years 7, 8 and 9 joined Poole Park manager AJ and her team for stand up paddleboarding, sailing and kayaking sessions.

St.Edward's School is a regular visitor to Rockley and Poole Park bringing pupils annually for the last ten years. After teachers identified that very few if any of the pupils had experienced getting on the water in Poole they decided to plan an annual day trip for the children to get on the water.

Rockley is pleased to be able to offer children like those from St.Edward's the opportunties to get on the water and enjoy all of the outdoor activities available at Poole Park.

If you would like to know how you can get on the water at Poole Park have a look here> or if you would like to organise for your school group to come to our centres get in touch with the team at 01202 677 272.

Rob’s blog - Moving from a small pond to a big sea: Expanding your competitive horizons >

Like most sports, in sailing there always feels like there is a home field advantage. We may not have the crowd cheering us on – certainly not in my case – but familiarity with a venue or set of competitors helps create a confidence that you have a sense of what will happen, where the wind will shift or tide will flow, and the moves and counter moves of your competition. In fact knowing where you stand in the local pecking order can give a timely nudge to push forwards and establish the natural order or be comfortable that you have done well in your relative result.
