How do I find out more?

Our phone lines are open in the UK from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, so please call us to discuss any courses or training in more detail. Outside office hours you can send us specific enquiries via email to [email protected] or request a brochure. We look forward to hearing from you.

Who else will be on my course?

Our courses attract a range of people who may be novice or expert, boy or girl or aged from 16 to 60+!  But they generally are like minded in their love of watersports and in their enthusiasm for teaching. Nearly everyone books as an individual. But don't worry, you will soon have plenty of new friends.

Are the qualifications guaranteed?

We guarantee to give you the training and do our very best to help you pass the assessments. Most of the certificates depend on you demonstrating your competence, so we can't give you a firm guarantee that you will pass. However, if the worst comes to the worst, you'll leave us with an action plan to complete.

Should I have an insurance policy?

The last thing you need away from home is a small problem turning into a crisis because you're not properly insured. We recommend that you take out a travel insurance policy, which covers all our activities and gives you cancellation insurance for your training course.

How much spending money do I need?

How much you spend depends on your lifestyle! Some of our Instructor Training Packages are inclusive of accommodation and meals so you should not require much in the way of extra money, just enough for treats and social events.

Will I need any special clothing?

Rockley Watersports has its own online shop selling a variety of sailing gear from wetsuit shoes and wetsuits to gloves. Instructor course essentials, whistles and a knife can be purchased at the sailing centre on arrival. We also sell Rockley Watersports Gill tee shirts and rash vests. Visit www.rockleyshop.co.uk

What is the accommodation and are there any rules?

Our purpose built lodge with rooms sleeping between 4 to 6 people per room. We ensure that all room occupants are of the same sex and try our best to match you with people of a similar age. For the safety and comfort of all our students and staff we have a number of rules for the sailing centre and residential accommodation. These include: NO SMOKING anywhere around the centre or accommodation. NO EATING OR DRINKING in the bedrooms. NO TAMPERING with the FIRE/ SMOKE alarms. NO ALCOHOL is permitted in our centre or accommodation.  It is up to our residential customers to ensure that their rooms are kept clean and tidy throughout their stay and that they respect those sharing the room with them – please use the shelves and under bed storage boxes for your belongings. Things left lying around may be thrown away. Your room will be vacuumed, your bins will be emptied and your bathrooms will be cleaned, if left in a tidy condition. We reserve the right to charge for any extra cleaning or repairs that we deem is required. We can not be held responsible for loss or damage to personal property – please look after your belongings, keep doors & windows closed &/or locked. Any damage, however caused, will be charged to all occupants in the room concerned – unless the person responsible owns up to it.

What if I have special requirements and are the staff First Aid trained?

All special requests should be clearly noted at the time of booking. We will make every effort to comply with all special requests although they may be subject to availability. Please make sure that you have informed us, either on your booking form or in writing, of any special dietary requirements (if you are having meals with us) and any medical notes which we should be aware of. We need to know about any medication that you are taking or any disabilities that you may have. Our Centre is fully equipped with first aid boxes located in the residential accommodation and sailing centre offices. All our main safety boats carry a first aid kit and a radio. All our instructors hold a valid First Aid certificate and attend a health and safety induction when joining the Company.

What other facilities are there?

As we share this part of Poole with Rockley Caravan Park, their customers and local residents, Rockley Watersports asks you, as our customers, to respect the other users of Rockley Lodge, Rockley Park and its facilities. Please note that certain facilities will not be available out of high season (July and August) when the park will be quieter. Laundry facilities are available and tokens can also be obtained from Rockley Park reception for a fee. During high season there is a regular bus service from Rockley Park to the centre of Poole.
