This is our original centre, founded in 1976, based in beautiful Poole harbour, Europe's largest natural harbour. Just across the water from us is Brownsea Island, home to the original Scout camp set up by Baden-Powell in 1907. The centre benefits from the facilities of the adjacent Holiday Park and provides the venue for a comfortable and rewarding activity holiday in the safe, sheltered waters of Poole Harbour.
Rockley Point is possibly the most highly regarded sail training centre in Britain. This reputation, of which we are very proud, has been earned over the years by the dedication, hard work and expertise of our members of staff.
Poole Harbour is such a special place to visit, not only is it a designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) it is also Special Protected Area (SSA). Parts of the Harbour are local and national nature reserves.
Known as the ‘Birthplace of Scouting’ Poole harbour is an idyllic location to visit and was chosen by Baden-Powell for its fresh air, open spaces and beautiful woodland. The waters of Poole Harbour and safe and inviting, perfect for our watersports activities.
Once at Rockley Point, your group and leaders alike will stay within our Rockley Lodge. A purpose built accommodation building including en-suite bunk bed accommodation with a communal dining hall and chill out facility.
Rockley Lodge is situated at the top of Rockley Park and is a five minute walk down to the beach and watersports centre at Rockley Point
Our core focus for the trip is to give your young people the full experience of all the activities we offer. With this in mind, they spend very little time in the accommodation.
They will require a pillow and sleeping bag/duvet. As simple as that!
During a Rockley trip your young people will develop knowledge, understanding, resilience, teamwork and a sense of pride in undertaking new challenges and believe that such opportunities as part of their clubs and hobbies can enhance their progress in learning and make them a more rounded individual. Activities can be based around achieving certain badges or Duke of Edindurgh Awards - please speak to the Rockley Team to arrange this at the time of booking.
