Kate's main role during the season is Centre Manager at our Le Lac centre in south west France. On her return in September, she works alongside the BTEC team as a Classroom Assistant where she is absolutely adored by the students and staff. Her friendliness and knowledge means that the students find her very approachable and she has proven to be an invaluable asset.

Head of Education

Clare joins the team as Head of Education. Having previously worked as Head of Curriculum at a local sixth form college and also having worked for Pearson, our exam board, Clare brings a wealth of knowledge to team and an overarching approach to quality. In other words, she’s gets us organised!
 
Clare’s background is not only in teaching, but having travelled the world as an Instructor and Ski Rep, she really knows and understands what the outdoors industry can bring to someone’s lives. Clare lives and breathes what she preaches and describes herself as surfer, snowboarder, day dreamer, traveller, coffee lover, creative thinker and definitely one of life's positive thinkers!
 
Qualifications: RYA Dinghy Instructor, RYA Windsurf Instructor, PE Teacher, Hockey Coach!

Hannah Martin

Head of Year 1

Hannah brings peace and serenity to our BTEC Course.  Previously Head of PE at a large local school, Hannah is loving the outdoor life that she now leads. She is also very organised which we love!

Having just had a gorgeous little boy a few years ago, Hannah has now returned to the Rockley Team and is in charge of the year 1 students.

Mark Ames

Mark Ames

BTEC Teacher / Personal Tutor

Mark has over 15 years experience of teaching from middle school, secondary, college and degree level. As a fully fledged sports enthusiast he has an interest in almost all sports and in his younger days would always be seen on the football pitch playing football or on the cricket pitch. Unfortunately age has taken his toll and these days you are more likely to see him on the golf pitch.

Any spare time away from work and family is now spent playing golf which started as a leisure activity, turned into a previous job and now is a borderline addiction! A particular highlight of this year so far is going to Paris to watch Europe win the Ryder Cup.

Qualifications: Various levels of NGB coaching in Cricket, Golf, Football, Dodgeball, Athletics, Disability Football

John  McMaster

John McMaster

BTEC Teacher / Personal Tutor

John spends most of his time delivering the practical side of our BTEC L3 course, which includes cycling around Poole Harbour on glorious sunny days! Tough job isn’t it?

Would like to get back into racing “his” RS400 with Liz, he also ran the London Marathon a few years ago ago along with his wife - a great achievement!

Aaron Agnew

Aaron Agnew

BTEC Practical Co-ordinator

Aaron has been with the Rockley Team on a seasonal basis since 2009 and has made the wise decision to join us full time! He has worked at our centres both in France and the UK starting as an Activity Instructor, a Centre Senior, Chief Instructor and then alongside AJ at Poole Park. He has previously been part of the BTEC Delivery Team and has more recently joined the BTEC Team full time as a BTEC Practical Co-ordinator.

And why does he fit in so well with his fellow workers? Unsrprisingly he is also a keen cyclist (as is Rob, Jack, Kat, Liz etc - the list goes on), loves watersports (obviously!) and has a beloved dog (see Pip, Peter, Lis, Keiron) called Cody. You get the idea!

Josh Banner

BTEC Practical Co-ordinator

Josh started with Rockley back in 2014 at one of our centres in Framce. After gaining his RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification in 2015, he came back for another year. Josh has continued to gain further qualifications working as a Senior at AzuRivage in 2016, Activity Manager at Le Lac Mimizan in 2017 and Activity Manager at Le Lac Mimizan more recently in 2018

He is super excited to be taking on this new challenge in the UK with the BTEC team however has conceeded that he will need a hair cut courtesy of the windier conditions of Poole Harbour! He is looking forward to passing on all of his experiences and knowledge to the next wave of potential instructors and helping them to realise their potential. 

He is passionate about the outdoors, hates being cooped up inside no matter what the weather and loves the mountains and beaches! He is passionate about all watersports, especially windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding and really loves skiing! 

Qualifications: RYA Senior Instructor, RYA Powerboat Instructor, RYA Windsurf Instructor,  SUP Instructor and Kayak Canoe Coach. 

Been at Rockley Since: 2014 and don’t plan on leaving any time soon (unless I get kicked out!) love the family feel of the company and you get really well looked after. 

Liam Cure

BTEC Practical Co-ordinator

Liam has worked for Rockley since 2012, working in all the centres across France and UK. Prior to his Rockley days he was a GB level Laser Sailor sailing at national, euro and world events all around the world. He has a BTEC in Outdoor Education and a degree in Watersports from Solent University.

Liam has an absolute focus on helping to mould the instructors of tomorrow and enabling them to reach their full potential. He feels that through his role as BTEC Practical Co-ordinator he has the ability to achieve this. He loves all types of water sport and you'll often hear him say that he enjoys being on the water more than land.

Lucy Horne

Lucy Horne

BTEC Administrator

Lucy graduated from Rockley's 11-week Leap for Success course in 2017 and worked a season at Rockley Point as an RYA qualified Windsurf Instructor. She has a real passion for the outdoors, and is never happier than when she is on the slopes skiing and snowboarding. She loves scuba diving and spends much of her weekends bike riding.

Lucy is a keen traveller and loves listening to music - you'll often find her at a gig
