When Yachts and Yachting approached Rockley asking if they could use our venue, boats and expertise so that they could film a series of high performance manoeuvres, of course we obliged. This basically meant that Rob and Peter could play on the water for the morning instead of sitting at their desks!

Along with three of our BTEC Level 3, year 1 students, the five Rockley Team took to the waters on Hartley 15's to perform a series of sailing techniques and manoeuvres which included; roll tacks, roll gybes, race start line practice, lee-bow tacking manoeuvres and downwind with the spinnaker.

Our three BTEC students consisted of Chloe Taylor, Adele Young and Katie Collier. Having been a squad sailor for many years, Adele has already gained her RYA Dinghy Instructor certificate. Chloe and Katie however had never sailed before they started the course in September, so to be given the opportunity to sail at this level with two very experienced sailors proved to be a fantastic learning experience for them both.

When asked if she felt daunted at the task of sailing alongside Rockley Owner, Peter Gordon, Chloe responded by saying; "It was amazing fun and I learned such a lot!"
