Rob ClarkQ I am keen for my children to learn to sail. I’ve researched a few local sailing centres – some centres specify an RYA course and some don’t. Should I book them on a course that specifies the RYA?

A The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is our national governing body for sailing, windsurfing, powerboating and associated activities and is generally considered to provide the benchmark for watersports training standards globally.

RYA recognized clubs and centres have been inspected and approved by an independent assessor as working to the highest standards for safety, learning and enjoyment for the students of all of their programmes, so this certainly gives peace of mind when entrusting loved ones to a new activity and environment.

RYA training is delivered around the world so if you always look for the badge you can be reassured that experiences are consistent and moving from one RYA venue to another shouldn’t result in having to learn everything again from a different syllabus or training style.

If you would like to find out more about our RYA certified courses and training please visit the section of our site here.
